Overview

Mizuho Securities is a Japanese middle market investment bank operating across the globe. Mizuho, the parent company, offers various other retail banking solutions focused on its main consumer base in Japan.

In the U.S., Mizuho is focused on its investment banking and trading functions. Mizuho's U.S. division accounts for one-third of the company's overall profit.

In 2021, Mizuho received an Outstanding Performance Award from the Sustainable Finance Awards organization for its underwriting of sustainability-linked bonds.

In mid-2023, Mizuho acquired Greenhill in order to grow its investment banking capabilities. Post acquisition, Mizuho allowed Greenhill to maintain its leadership and brand.
