University of Hong Kong
The University of Hong Kong (HKU) is one of the top schools in Asia and is the oldest university in Hong Kong. Founded in 1911, HKU is one of the best Asian schools for U.S. investment banking.
HKU has dominant placement in Asian investment banking offices, but still has impressive presence in the U.S. HKU is one of four Asian schools (alongside NUS, HKUST and Singapore Management University) on this list.
HKU ranks #49 on our investment banking target school list, earning it a designation as a lower semi-target school (in the U.S.).
HKU is home to the HKU Business School, which offers both undergraduate and graduate programs.
Despite being based in Hong Kong, HKU has a great presence in U.S. bulge brackets. HKU has a Presence score of 35%, which is impressive for an international school.
We note that HKU has a strong pipeline to Citi, which represents 30% of HKU's investment banking placements. Similar to other Asian schools, HKU has vastly superior placement into bulge brackets. 97% of all HKU's placements are into bulge bracket firms.
Our investment banking target school list is a complete rank of 60 schools and analyzed >60k LinkedIn profiles of professionals who worked in investment banking between 2008 and 2023. We filtered the data to examine U.S. hires into the top investment banks.
